Why a Vineyard |
Many people ask me, \"How did you get involved with starting a vineyard?\" There is not one simple answer, but a variety of reasons. Firstly, I\'m from Prince Edward County and I wanted to return to my roots and a simpler life, surrounded by the beauty of the country and the natural process of creation. I hope on my quest to make wine I will always hold true to this reason. Secondly, as a child I spent many summers on my grandparents\' farm on East Lake just outside Cherry Valley. You know what they say. \"You can take the boy out of the country, but you can\'t the country out of the boy.\" Thirdly, I spent almost a year in California, living and working in the heart of the Napa Valley, and vineyards and wineries get under your skin. They catch your imagination and spirit. I went to Napa a beer drinker and returned a wine drinker. Maybe those three things help explain my overwhelming desire to jump into an industry that appears to be flourishing in a place where I\'d like to spend the rest of my life. |
